Teachable moments #65 - Reliance on "AI-Managed Feedback" can cost you your leadership!

AI is a "miracle" for productivity. It can synthesise voracious amounts of data in seconds, summarise metrics, and even draft a structured evaluation template.
But we have a growing leadership problem. Leaders are now frequently using AI as a shield to avoid the necessary, and uncomfortable, "hard conversations."
Using AI to write a difficult performance review, or even worse, to deliver it ... We must understand the big difference:
🚀 A managed team (via algorithms) hits targets.
🧱 A led team (via humanity) conquers peaks.
The difference almost always comes down to one thing, whether the leader had the courage to sit across someone and say the real thing, face to face.
This courage, this willingness to be vulnerable and direct, is the foundation of loyalty. The late civil rights activist, Maya Angelou taught us that while people may not remember the words, they will always remember how you made them feel. And AI does not feel anything!
When you choose efficiency over empathy, you tell your team they aren't worth your emotional investment. Don't outsource the soul of your leadership.
